Red, White, Blue—and Confident Too!

Jul 02, 2025

The Fourth of July brings all the classics like fireworks, grilled hot dogs and family time. But, the  celebration can be something even more meaningful: A chance to build your child’s confidence.

At A Confident Mindset™, we believe holidays should be full of fun—but they can also be full of purpose. And what better holiday to tie confidence and courage together than the Fourth of July?

Independence + Confidence

The Fourth of July celebrates freedom and independence. And for kids, independence can be about more than just history. It can be a teachable moment. Confidence starts when kids see themselves as capable, independent thinkers and doers.

Ask your children:

  • What does independence mean to you?
  • What is something you did on your own?
  • How did that make you feel?

These questions align with Step 1 of ACM: Believe in Yourself. It’s how we help children recognize their strengths and what they are capable of.

Courage + Character

Fireworks are fun, but this holiday is rooted in something even bigger: courage. The story of July 4th is one of standing up for values, taking risks, and staying committed to what matters.

That is what we want for our kids, too.

Ask your children:

  • When have you been courageous this year?
  • What’s something you were afraid to do—but you did it anyway?
  • Who is someone you admire for being courageous?

Step 2 of ACM: Face Your Fears. Courage shows up in big and small ways and every time a child faces a fear, their confidence grows.

Connection + Confidence

Confidence isn’t built alone. It’s built in safe, supportive relationships—at the dinner table, under the stars, during backyard BBQs and bedtime chats. This Fourth of July, focus on presence over perfection.

Ask your children:

  • Who helps you feel most like yourself?
  • What’s something we did together today that made you feel happy?
  • What’s your favorite memory?

Step 6 of ACM: Better Practice. When kids feel safe, they are more open to feedback, willing to reflect, and more likely to persevere when things get tough.

Let’s Raise Confident Kids Who Know What They’re Capable Of

As we celebrate the freedoms of our country this 4th of July, let’s also celebrate a different kind of freedom, the freedom that comes from confidence.

Confidence gives kids the courage to speak up, the perseverance to try again and the character to lead with kindness.

It is the foundation of leadership.

And together, we’re raising the next generation of courageous and confident leaders.
